“They were supposed to make it back before the airport's closed, and they did make it on time, but it was on one of the last flights. It was also one of the 12 planes that disappeared during the first stages of the Exchange. My grandparents' home was pretty much okay, grandma and grandpa live up north, so the tidal force didn't affect us as much. My mom's mom told me that there might be a chance that they don't come back, because they don't know what for sure happened to the planes…”

 

“My name is Calvin Daniels. Or, pvt. (private) Daniels when on duty. I was stationed in Chile at the Villarica Volcano evacuation site during the eruption. The search and rescue platoon I was commissioned to was sent directly to ground zero. The smoke, fireballs and raining ejecta made air travel just too dangerous, so we had to travel by land. We were not able to evacuate all of the villagers on time. Some people were left behind, and unable to escape from the molten lava spewing from the volcano. Ground support has its limitations, and we lost several of our own men as they attempted to rescue who they could before becoming engulfed in the inferno..."
