“The Proteus Effect”; this is the name given to the physiological changes one can experience when designing and using an avatar or any other type of interactive customizable digital character. The Proteus Effect essentially is what happens when one begins to imitate or take one the attributes of their virtual counterparts. Coined in 2007 by behavioral scientists at the university of Stanford, the Proteus Effect or (PE), is a growing tech based psychological phenomenon.

It was a system used to determine whether a computer system could behave so much like a human, that another human not know that difference. This was conducted through a series of simple tests. In 2013, Google also removed all the data sizes of all the applications they provide, making it impossible to know how big the file is until you have decided to download or purchase that particular app and begin the installation processes. This makes the user think less about how much available space is left on their device. In doing this, the application size has also increased greatly, as time progresses the size will inevitably grow.
